Lookinf for some suggestions.
First off, I'm kinda new to the game and am looking to try out one of these IW builds. My question is; what skills/attributes do you use until you get IW. I understand how it's supposed to work after you get it, but what about before then? Phantasm? Use Domination coupled with what little damage you can do?
Also any suggestions for PvE Me/Mo or Me/E builds would be awesome.
Edit: My spelling rocks eh?

Get some Caster hate. I'll post something for you...
I assume you're at Denravi.
I also assume you're at level 17.
Me/Mo
Fast Casting 7 +1
Domination 9 +3 +1
Inspiration 9 +1
Backfire
Inspired Hex
Shatter Hex
Empathy
Cry of Frustration
Essence Bond (?)/Shatter Enchantment
Drain Enchantment
Rebirth/Resurrect
Um...yeah.

Erm, where? Denravi?
If it is, then I would tweak my suggested one to: (Level 8)
Fast Casting: 2 +1
Domination: 6 +1 +1
Inspiration: 5 +1
Hmm, but if you're level 7-10, then you won't be as far as Denravi, would you...

Use whatever you want and have fun. However, make sure you have an interrupt (it helps) and Empathy is a good starting spell.

By the way, my current build is Me/W. Not sure if that helps or not with the suggestions I'm looking for.
I am considering trying out a Me/Mo though. Looking towards a strategy of using Fast Casting/Domination/Smite. Any suggestions there?

Empathy and Backfire are good places to start.
I would however encourage you to get away from Conjure Phantasm as soon as you can, before it snares you into overuse!

lol, Avarre...always gotta plug Empathy. j/k
it really is a good suggestion, at low levels conjure phantasm tears it up and empathy is always cool

So, for the sake of efectiveness, would it be better adivised to stay away from Warrior skills until I get IW and just play as a pure Mesmer? Maybe just using some Tactics skills?
By the way, thank yo all so far. You've been very helpful, not too many "play what you want posts". In the end I'm going to go with whatever build feels best for me, but a few pointers of what skills to look at and which to run in terror from is a big help.

Maybe using Healing Signet, or Watch Yourself. I found the +20 AL very useful, but it really depends on player experience.

I use watch yourself on FoW runs occasionally, its a decent team-support skill if aggro is broken, especially as you wand alot of the time after you've hexed everything. Its a fairly good skill, and heal sig for self-support isn't bad if you're at low levels and need to capitalize on your stat points more simply because you have less.

Regardless of how you feel, you'll find I'm correct. Unlike other classes, which progress linearly towards a goal of something (increasing heal power, increasing tank power), mesmers do not, as their skill effects vary dramatically across the field as you collect new ones. Even when you reach high level, you'll find there is no 'optimal setup' like there is on other classes. So you're in for some self-designing anyway.
